Community Café

Our popular Café is open Mon - Fri, from 10.30am - 2.30pm (times subject to change dependent on volunteer availability).

 

Call in for a  refillable tea/coffee or a hot chocolate and a friendly chat, browse our shop or arrange to meet friends - this is a facility for the people of Ashington and we would love to meet you and make you welcome at Ashington Life Centre!

 

We hold an Environmental Health 5* rating and provide a variety of healthy meals and snacks cooked on site at affordable prices.  Hot meals are available between 11.30am - 1.15pm providing a healthy home cooked dinner for £3.00). Desserts and toasties are also available with tea, coffee and biscuits available all day. Our meals are proving to be extremely popular and we are always on the lookout for new volunteers to help during lunchtimes. Our meals are freshly cooked on site by qualified staff using fresh seasonal vegetables and produce.  Menus can vary depending on the season but always include traditional favourites and desserts. We are also able to accept ‘deferred meal payments’ which enables members of the public to ‘pre-pay’ for a meal for someone who is homeless or cannot afford to buy one themselves.

Menus currently include Liver & Onions, Sausage, Beans & Chips, Fish Pie, Lasagne, Hotpots and Casseroles all served with our delicious fresh vegetables and potatoes.

Thanks to End of Day donations from  Greggs we are also able to offer a selection of pastries & sandwiches when available throughout the day.  

We serve a healthy menu daily including:

 

Jacket Potatoes & Salad - £3 (Variety of fillings)

 

Lasagne & Salad - £3

 

Traditional meals e.g. Liver & Onions, Casseroles, Shepherd’s Pie etc - £3

 

Toasties - 50p

Refillable cups of tea & coffee are only £1 each or why not try a hot chocolate or cold drink with your meal!
